HENNA LIGHTING - 1

Henna lanterns, produced mainly by the Berber tribeswomen depict mainly animist symbols and motifs. This art form is an extension of the ancient art of tatooing, which for the Berber was a way of recording knowledge and beliefs as symbols for successive generations. Henna is a brown-red substance made from dried leaves of the Henna bush, mixed with lemon and water, it is applied freehand to goat skins sewn around iron frames to create a subtle form of lighting.
